With the Div 2 U18.5 mens team suffering their first loss of the year, it was left to the other senior men's football teams to claim the W.

The Thirds started the weekend with a solid win against Point Cook at Point Cook on Friday night. With only one on the bench, the boys went on to a 97-point victory thanks to Corey Thomas and his five goals. Justin Maher and Asher Kirk joined Corey in the top three on the ground. The Thirds remain second on the ladder with a game against top team Glen Orden up next week.

As mentioned, the U18.5 Div 2 men’s team suffered their first defeat of the year, beaten by third-placed team Caroline Springs. Spotswood, only two goals down at three-quarter time, still had a chance to take the game, but a 6-goal-to-two final quarter sealed the deal for the Lakers. Malachy Coll, Ben Kouteris, and Marcus Irgl made up the top three on the day, while Ryley Hales led the goal kicking with two.

The U18.5 Div 1 men’s team had a solid win against the old foe Werribee Districts. Thanks to the four points with a 38-point victory, the young Spotty brigade led at every change and seemed to have control of the match from the start. After a stint in the seniors, Beau Lagos was welcomed back to the team with a 2-goal haul, while seven other players also got on the score sheet. Jordan O’Connor returned to his best form with a BOG performance.

The reserves followed on Oval 1 with a 66-point demolition of the Point Cook team. While only kicking one goal in the final quarter, the damage had been done with Spotty leading into every break, including a 74-point lead at three-quarter time. Luke Blake, Jack Knight, and Xavier Walsh all had great games. Xavier Walsh slotted six, while Mitch Schibeci with four and Cooper Reid with three, were the team's multiple goal kickers.

The seniors broke a 4-game losing streak, taking a 22-point win over Point Cook

15.13.103 to 11.15.81. The game was a close tussle for three and a bit of the four quarters, with the lead never really extending to more than two goals to either team. The Woodsmen finally broke away to a 15-point lead 23 minutes into the last quarter before scoring another three goals before the final siren. Captain David Iaccarino, Jackson Williams, and Kyle Blake were again on the best players sheet, while Harley Walshe and James Cleaver kicked four each, with Chris Seymour slotting three.

No footy this weekend due to the King's Birthday Public Holiday.
