It was a huge weekend for the Spotswood FNC senior football teams, recording a perfect 5 wins from 5 matches across Friday and Saturday’s ANZAC Round 🇦🇺
The Thirds kicked things off on Friday night, coming from behind at half-time to secure a strong 30-point win over Truganina away. After a slow start — with several players unavailable due to Masters commitments — the new-look lineup took control. A dominant 4 goals to 1 third quarter gave them a 16-point lead at the final break, which extended to 30 by full time. The Thirds now sit top of the ladder (2–0) 💪
Saturday morning saw both Under 18 sides deliver big wins at home.
The U18 Division 2 team dominated Sunshine, holding them to just 2 goals while piling on 25 goals of their own in a massive 152-point victory. Lukas Hales kicked 4, Alex Chisholm added 3, and six other players contributed 2 goals each. Harvey Redpath, Alex Chisholm, and Nate Lucas were named among the best. The team now sits equal top at 2–0.
The U18 Division 1 side was just as impressive, defeating Altona 16.21 (117) to 4.1 (25) — a 92-point win. After a respectful ANZAC tribute, the boys came out firing and never looked back. Kade Warrener led the way with 5 goals, William Scothern kicked 3, and Xavier Brandham added 2. Noah Campbell, Nawa Hogg, and Billy McGregor were strong contributors around the ground. Spotswood sit equal top, just behind Point Cook on percentage.
The Reserves fought back after trailing for most of the game to run out 25-point winners over Altona. A powerful 5 goals to 2 final quarter broke the deadlock, with Mitchell Schibeci kicking two late goals to seal it. Jamie Seymour impressed in his first game back in two years with 3 goals, while Zac Collyer, Nathan Kennedy, and Tiger Mitchem each kicked 2. Taj Fenn was best on ground, supported by Will Connor, Liam Charge, and Lachie Devine. The Reserves now sit 5th (2–1).
The Seniors capped off the perfect weekend with a commanding 62-point win over Altona, 16.15 (111) to 6.13 (49) 💚💛
Responding strongly after last week’s loss to Caroline Springs, the boys produced the brand of football they’ve been building towards. Beau Lagos made his senior debut after strong performances in the U18s. Harley Walshe was outstanding up forward with 6 goals, while Jackson Williams and MJ Szuic added 2 each. All three were named among the best, alongside Kyle Blake, Max Mitchell-Russell, and captain David Iaccarino. The Seniors now sit in a tight ladder position, with multiple 6 teams level on points. Walshe also sits 3rd on the goal-kicking table with 9 for the season 🎯
This Week:The Seniors, Reserves, and U18 Division 1 take on Yarraville in the “Battle of the Bridge” at Yarraville.
U18 Division 2 travel to Wyndhamvale, while the Thirds host Wyndhamvale Friday night.
